Infected by Merely Browsing - But Linux Users are Safe

Tuesday July 6, 2004
There are some troubling developments on the internet security front. According to reports, various internet sites have been infected recently with a JavaScript that in turn will infect the computers of visitors to those web sites by downloading "trojan viruses" from another web site. If that sounds troubling, according to the this CNN article, the really insidious part is that we still don’t know how those web sites got infected and that people don’t know if they got infected by visiting those sites. There is good news for those who are using Linux or Netscape: You are safe from this particular threat since only users of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer and IIS Servers are affected.
