Free Linux JRE From IBM

Saturday September 11, 2004
IBM's Java Runtime Environment (JRE) for Linux is now available as free download on IBM’s developerWorks web site. The open-source Eclipse SDK (Software Development Kit) can be downloaded from there as well, thereby encouraging developers to get the complete developer set from IBM. It also makes it more likely that Eclipse and Linux developers later try IBM’s more advanced tools, such as WebSphere Studio and Tivoli. This new offer is in line with IBM's strategy of becoming a major Linux player. It is projected that by 2007 25 million desktops will be running Linux. Eclipse can be downloaded from http://www.ibm.com. More information can be found here.
