Enterprise Resource Planning Software Moving to Linux

In a recent survey of companies and government agencies using PeopleSoft, SAP, or Oracle Corp. ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) applications is was found that a small but growing percentage of ERP systems are running on Linux. The survey, conducted by Peerstone Research, Inc., found that 67% of the ERP installed based is still on Unix, and 28% on Windows. Even though ERP vendors only started to move their applications to Linux over the past 18 months, two percent of the surveyed organizations have their ERP systems now on Linux. Peerstone predicts that over the next three years the Linux share will increase to 15%, the Unix share will go down to 50%, and Windows Server will stay at around 27 percent. More...
