Ubuntu, The Humane Linux Distro

Rarely has a Linux Distribution gained popularity faster than Ubuntu, which in the African Zulu language means something like humanity. Ease of use is its top priority. Even its distribution has been made easier by allowing interested parties to request free CD’s, thereby avoiding the problems with long downloads and CD burning. Ubuntu is based on Debian Linux, which has a sophisticated package management system that installs all required parts during the installation of new software. Ubuntu is only 540MB big, that is it fits on one CD, but it includes all programs commonly needed, including Email, calendar, and address book functions, as well as image processing, photo management, and various multi-media software.
