Opera - Cruising The Web In Overdrive

Saturday December 8, 2007
Opera is an attractive alternative to other great browsers, such as Firefox. It is one of the fasted web browsers around and is also considered one of the safest. Additionally, it offers various cool little features you don't find in other browsers.

You can use mouse gestures to perform actions such as going back or closing a window. You can use a password manager to save passwords so you don't have to retype it every time. Hovering your mouse over a tab will show a thumbnail preview of the web site on that tab. Searching Google, Amazon, and eBay has been integrated. A widgets menu offers little fun applications, such as newsfeeds, games, and multimedia. For more information see here.

It’s about time someone begins to talk about Opera. I was turned on to it more than 3 years ago. Whenever I have to use a different browser (’your current browser is not supported by this site…’,etc) it’s like tying both my hands behind my back. Yes, I include Firefox (my distant 2nd choice) in the ‘non’ favorite class. Do yourself a favor, check it out. It’s ‘Bookmarks’ structure (similiar to Win Xp) alone makes it a winner.

After three + years of daily use, I’m still finding new and neat things to play with.

As a former developer of major software systems, I use Opera as my prime example of ‘Sure wish I had done that.’

Oh yes, it’s free of course.
