Mozilla Releases Version 0.9 of Sunbird and Lightning

Friday September 26, 2008
The standalone calendar application Sunbird has been modified and improved. Lightning is a version of Sunbird that functions as calendar extension for the e-mail client Thunderbird. The software is now more stable and uses less memory. Numerous visual enhancements have been implemented as well.

Sunbird is a Mozilla project to build a cross-platform calendar client. It uses an SQLite-based storage system, but can also work with the open iCal standard. The application is targeted at Mozilla based browsers, Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird and the Mozilla Application Suite ("SeaMonkey"). At the project website you can look at screenshots, download the latest version, and read about plans for future releases. It also contains information how developers and non-developers can contribute to the Sunbird project.

Sunbird is Open Source and licensed under the Mozilla Public License, the GNU General Public License, and the GNU Lesser General Public License. Builds haven been released for Linux, Windows and Mac OS X.
