Ulteo Releases Open Virtual Desktop

Saturday November 22, 2008
The "Open Virtual Desktop" is comprised of a session server and an application server that enables users of a local network to run desktop applications without having them installed on their desktop computer. Users only need a web browser with Java on their computer. It doesn't matter if they use Linux, Windows, Mac operating systems, but currently only Linux applications are provided by the application server.

The server software can be installed on most Linux systems, and installation instructions are available for Ubuntu 8.04.1, Fedora 9, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.

Ulteo also offers the Open Virtual Desktop over the Internet. For more information see here.
