Squid - Serving the Web More Intelligently

By , About.com Guide   March 17, 2009

Follow me on:

The widely used web proxy server Squid is used by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and other people running web sites to make web access more efficient, for example by locally storing ("caching") web content that is frequently used. Squid distinguishes itself through high flexibility, efficiency, and scalability, and its functionality can be expanded with additional software, e.g., for filtering or virus protection. Squid is free of charge and available under the GNU Public License. For more information see here.
