PulseAudio is increasingly accepted by Linux and other operating systems as a standard sound server. It combines the output from sound devices and sends the result to speakers or head phones. Sound quality is also improved with the adoption of the SILK codec, in particular in low band width connections.
Other highlights are improved video transmission and the addition of SMS messaging, contact groups, and composition of messages in chat.
Improvements further include better recognition of ALSA devices and USB head phones. Futher information and download links can be found at the Skype web site.
