The Asterisk Skype extension allows users to directly connect to the Skype network from an Asterisk phone system setup. Asterix is an open source PBX (Private Branch Exchange) and telephony system. With this extension, Asterisk users can talk to people on the Skype network or receive calls from Skype. It supports features such as call routing, voice mail, telephone menus, and conference calls.

The extension also enables DTMF (dual-tone multi frequency) for incoming and outgoing calls, profiles, status reports, and simultaneous access fom Asterisk and Skype desktop client. No hardware modifications are required. The extension is priced at $66 per channel (simultaneous conversation). More information is available at digium.
