Moblin 2.1 Released

The Moblin project team has completed Version 2.1 of the operating system designed for Intel Atom processor based netbooks. The latest release brings a wide range of improvements in the areas of user interface, plug-in support, performance, and documentation. New features include Bluetooth device management, 3G data connection support, integrated application installer, and a new method for language localization.

Moblin is a Linux distribution with functionality and user interface features developed specifically for small devices and small screens. The main components of the Moblin user interface are myzone, status, people, internet, media, pasteboard, applications, and zones, where active applications are organized. An optional feature is the Moblin Garage, an online catalog of software applications which comes with the Moblin application installer.

When run from a USB stick, it boots up in just a few seconds. The installation file of Moblin is about 720 MB large and can be downloaded from the Moblin home page.
