Sourceforge Inc. Becomes Geeknet Inc.

Tuesday November 10, 2009
In order to better reflect its user community, Sourceforge Inc, the owner of sourceforge.net, decided to change its name to "Geeknet Inc.".

Sourceforge/Geeknet, whose website may well be the largest repository of free software projects, is a public company traded on NASDAQ.

Besides sourceforge.net, which offers some 230,000 free software packages, the company owns Freshmeat.net, Slashdot.org, ThinkGeek.com, and Ohloh.net. Ohloh is an index of open source software projects evaluated specifically for professionals and companies.

For more information see the Geeknet announcement.
