CodeWeavers has released version 9.1 of CrossOver and CrossOver Games for Linux. CrossOver is a software environment that allows you to run native Microsoft Windows applications on Linux. CrossOver Games is a variant designed to run popular games that were written for operating systems developed by the software company Microsoft. CrossOver 9.1 is based on version 1.2 of the compatibility layer Wine.
Besides various improvements in the management of previously supported games, the latest version of CrossOver Games includes support for StarCraft II and Star Trek Online.
At CodeWeavers' CrossOver Compatibility Center you can list or search for Windows software that have been successfully tested in CrossOver and can therefore be run on Linux systems. There is an officially supported set of Windows programs that can be installed using Crossover as indicated by medal icons. However, there are many other programs that can be installed, sometimes requiring a few tricks. Codeweavers has set up an online compatibility database where CrossOver users can download recipes for installing a particular program, and users can upload recipes if they figured out how to install a program.
