Wildfire Games has released
the 9th alpha version, codenamed "Ides of March", of the open-source real-time strategy game "0 A.D.", which stands for "Zero Anno Domini". One of the key new features is the Roman Republic faction, including a new art set of units, buildings, and scenarios. Other highlights include an updated combat system with bonus and weakness schemes similar to those in Age of Empires and other civilization games, as well as improved AI, new animations, and expanded soundtrack.
As the name suggests, O A.D. is set in years around zero A.D. and simulates seven unique civilizations of that era. It has a number of multi-player modes that are similar to those in Age of Empires, developed by Microsoft. Players create and build civilizations that need to be defended against enemy nations.
