Ubuntu Studio has been updated and is now based on Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quentzal). Ubuntu Studio is tailored to meet the requirements of creative applications that involve audio, video, or graphics processing. It makes it easy for new users to get up to speed on Linux multi-media software, and makes less well-known applications readily available. It is pre-loaded with various multimedia software packages, such as Gimp, Cinepaint, Blender, Openshot, FFMPEG, Ardour, Audacity, Yoshimi, and JACK-Daemon.
During the installation you can choose the audio, the video, or the graphics version, and the setup procedure will be configured to provide extra support for the chosen application focus. For example, in order to enable high-performance music applications, the kernel of the audio version has been enhanced with real-time capabilities. On the announcement page you can find more information about the latest release as well as download links.
