Definition: MontaVista Linux: Once known as Hard Hat Linux this embedded distribution from MontaVista, Inc., is more than just another general-purpose Linux distribution. MontaVista provides a cross development platform and a set of tool kits designed specifically for embedded solutions using the x86/IA-32, PowerPC, StrongARM, XScale, MIPS, SH, ARM and an ever expanding array of other microprocessor architectures. Renamed MontaVista Linux with the release of v2.1 on January 29, 2002. MontaVista Linux Professional Edition 3.0 was released November 18, 2002. From LWN Distribution List
