DSP (Digital Signal Processor)

Definition: DSP (Digital Signal Processor): A progammable sound processing circuit, used in both modems and sound boards. Sound boards use DSPs to handle a variety of sound resolutions, formats, and sound-altering filters without requiring separate circuits for each one, while modems use DSPs to handle several modulation protocols.
