Definition: FSF (Free Software Foundation): A nonprofit organisation, based in Massachusetts, that is devoted to the ideal of the free sharing of useful software for noncommercial purposees. To promote this goal, FSF supports a UNIX compatible operating system (called GNU) and system utilities, which are freely redistributable under FSF' GPL (General Public License).
