TCP Transmission Control Protocol

Definition: TCP Transmission Control Protocol: (often written as TCP/IP because it works together with IP). TCP is a protocol which ensures that data transmitted is received in the intended order and free of errors. The reason for this is that when computer data is transmitted over the Internet it is broken up into small `packets' which may travel over different routes.
