UNIX-to-UNIX Copy Program (UUCP)

Definition: UNIX-to-UNIX Copy Program (UUCP): A network, based on long-distance telephone uploads and downloads. UUCP allows UNIX users to exchange files, electronic mail and Usenet articles. In the 1980s, when Internet connectivity was hard to come by, UUCP played an important role in providing support for the UNIX operating system.
