Champion is a side-view medieval war game, where you control an archer and need to assist your battalion of swordsmen across the battlefield. The enemies will be spawning their own soldiers, too. But they can be killed by your soldiers and your bow. Obviously, passing each level is impossible unless you use your bow. Realistically, there will be an arc, depending on your power. You hold down the mouse, then let go and fire.
Gameplay
When you start the game, the battlefield will be empty. Soon however, your troops and the enemy troops will be spawning very quickly. The enemy will always have more troops. But you can kill them with any combination of head shots and body shots. Aiming, however, is not as easy as just a point-and-click. You have to hold down the left mouse button, wait until the bar gets to a good height, and then fire. The bar moves up and down quite fast.
Graphics and Audio
Everybody in this game, including you, is a stick-figure. You fight on a nicely done grassy battlefield, with a realistic sky. The background is beautiful and more elaborate than the lines that make the stick-figures. The audio consists of some basic music, sound effects, and other ambient noises.
Special Feature
I think the gameplay of Champion is simply awesome. In addition to being very original, it is fun, especially when firing arrows randomly into enemies that keep swarming. While your troops will briefly hold against the enemies, you can make a few head shots. Due to the arc that affects the arrows, you will have to realistically adjust your aim, instead of simply aiming at the enemies.
Bottom Line
This 2D defense game will have you firing your bow at enemy sticks repeatedly, while your own troops try to hold out. Unlike most games that involve straight firing guns, this one features more medieval weapons, like swords and bows. You will only have access to a bow, while you will have a bunch of helpers spawning with their own swords.
