Field Command 3 is a choice-based strategy game, where you control your people with various choices. The Field Command games are a series. With Field Command 3, you guide your Indian tribe around gating guns and other European technologies. Featuring very unique graphics, this addition to the Field Command series is very promising and has a lot of potentials. Other than a few bugs, the game is flawless in terms of gameplay and strategy.
Gameplay
The gameplay may be simple, but making the right choices is not the easiest thing to do. Some parts of the game are unrealistic, such as the fact that only one option in each scene allows you to continue. To some players, the game quickly becomes a game of memory because players must remember which options to choose in each part.
Graphics and Audio
The graphics are well made, though simple. Some parts could use some further work, however. The gating guns fire at an extremely low rate, and the soldiers look a little bit worse than in the Field Command 2. However, since this game took a turn from the last World War II theme, they have added lots of new things. There are cool-looking trees, as well as horses, arrows, and battle-axes. The audio consists of a variety of fitting music, as well as many sound effects.
Special Feature
The cool part about Field Command 3 is the realism in the cut scenes. Following the right choice, a movie clip shows, with all of your individual little soldiers performing their duties. In the battle parts, you will see the enemy infantry using their own strategic ideas. Though the units aren't much more than a few basic shapes, there are many of them, and they all flee, attack, or hide realistically.
Bottom Line
I highly recommend this free game for fans of strategy games, especially choice-based ones. With unique graphics, interesting music, and of course very strategic gameplay, this is a strategist’s dream. The gameplay may be simple, but it should not be underestimate, because each correct choice brings a bit of awesome footage. Advance through different parts of America, fleeing soldiers and looking for allies.
