The desktop publishing program Scribus is capable of producing professional looking page layouts, similar to Adobe PageMaker. Unlike word processors like OpenOffice, desktop publishing software is characterized by highly flexible and accurate layout functions and typesetting. It can be used for creating animated and interactive PDF presentations.

Scribus operates frame oriented, similar to QuarkXpress and InDesign. All elements of a layout, including text, images, and drawings are positioned on pages as frames. It can be used for creating content for newspapers, magazines, brochures, posters, and similar publications.

Besides SVG, the software supports most common graphics formats. For more information, see here.
